 | | Photo: Andrea Kratzenberg | During a Holiday stress should be kept at the minimum, as Holidays are the time to enjoy and renew your energies. But, due to certain unforeseen situations -- family disagreements, scheduling conflicts, money issues, etc -- stress can sometimes spoil your mood. Whatever be the reason for stress, I am giving below 9 tips that you should always keep in mind when embarking on a holiday: these will help you manage stress skillfully. Tips to Reduce Holiday StressGet Your Shopping Done Early. Completing your shopping related work will take many a things off your head. You will avoid competing with other holiday shoppers, running around for selecting proper gifts, and rocking your head to adjust everything in your budget. In short, if you complete shopping early on, your mind will be less crowded at the last moment; you will be more relaxed during the last hectic moments. Keep Time for Yourself. You must keep time for winding down. You will be thinking about the enjoyment of the children, entertainment of the spouse and all family members, including your self. But equally important is the time to relax, to unwind. Actively schedule some time for this for your own physical and mental health. Maintain Your Cool. Sometimes togetherness of all family members leads to friction. It could be between you and your spouse, or between children. Just keep your head cool. Make a promise to yourself that you will keep down the holiday stress, and make it a truly beautiful period by practicing inner calm at any cost. Don't Forget The Push Ups. Well, well, it could be jogging, or aerobics, or yoga, or plain walking. But the point is, do not forget your 'getting physical' routine during the holidays. While a little break from exercise might not make a big difference in your physique, it might make a difference when it comes to your stress level. Try to keep up some form of exercise, as it will provide you with a release from stress. Control Your Diet. Once in a while it is OK to indulge and help yourself to the desserts that you always stop yourself from relishing all the time. After all, it is holiday, and you have come here to enjoy yourself. But, keep a healthy watch over what you are taking: it will help you maintain holiday stress at lower levels, and keep you in a happy mood. The two big ones to watch are caffeine and sweets. Buy Yourself a Present. While you've been budgeting money for everyone else, there's no reason why you can't buy yourself a little something. After all, there must be something in your mind that you wanted to have all through the year, but your other commitments prevented you from doing this. Go, and buy yourself that coveted thingy as a gift to yourself. You can even schedule yourself a massage. You can set up a message for your self at futureme.org Get Enough Rest. The excitement can take its toll during holidays. Sometimes you'll lose sleep because of stress, and sometimes you'll lose sleep because of excitement. Reduce holiday stress by taking at least 8 hours sleep each day of your holiday. Take care of your body and spirits by giving yourself a good rest. Else, you will go back more tired, and will find it difficult to start your normal workday routine. Delegate, And Lower Holiday Stress. Don't burden yourself with too many tasks. Delegate as much as possible, and keep only a reasonable amount of burden on you. If you ever require assistance, seek the same from your children or spouse. Involve children in some preparations, it will keep them busy; and also stop them from doing some more pranks. Be Flexible. Holiday stress can arise when things do not turn out the way you planned. But if you are prepared for the unforeseen, and keep your attitude positive, such problems will not hassle you un-necessarily. Realize that certain things will not be perfect, and you won't feel so much stressed if things do go wrong. Go with the flow and enjoy every moment, even those moments when some things are going wrong. Take it as a joke and have a good laugh.
