The Power of Positive Affirmations

The power of positive affirmations lies in the way they affect your subconscious mind. Positive affirmations are statements that create images of positive outcome in your mind, help you gain confidence and take necessary steps to achieve your goals.

They are definitely relevant for the seeker of a low stress life, for the root of many of the life's problems lies in lack of confidence, and not knowing what to do and how. Affirmations do not teach you the technique, but encourage you to take the first step, which is often the most difficult thing to do.

In many situations you have to act even if you are not sure, when you do not know all the facts, and are really hazy about the consequences. This is what life is: we all come to realize this sooner or later.

The winner is the one who ventures into the darkness, the one who is not intimidated by the failure, and the one who is ready to become a laughing stock if he fails. Some of the examples of positive affirmations are –

I am calm and confident

I will do well in the examination

I look handsome

I look beautiful

I am well prepared

I am relaxed

Imagine you are facing an interview. Your attitude gets reflected in everything that you do: your eyes, actions, gestures, posture, etc. When you are sure about yourself, you are able to leave a positive impression, even if you do not know everything that is asked. Conversely, when you are unsure, you do not look convincing even if you know everything. That is the power of confidence, and that is where positive affirmations help you.

Prior to going to the interview, you start repeating some positive affirmations to yourself, say, 'I am confident', 'I will give my replies with poise and confidence.' Slowly, after repeating these affirmations for a few minutes in your mind, your confidence starts increasing, and you are sure that you will be able to clear this test. It works wonders with your performance.

Life's battles don't always go to the stronger or faster man. But sooner or later the man who wins, is the man who thinks he can. ~~ Vince Lombardi (American Football Coach, national symbol of single-minded determination to win.)

Use The Power of Positive affirmations to get a winner's mindset.

Break The Pattern of Negative Self Talk

Take for example what happens during stress response. You are already stressed, you are doubtful; the doubt spoils your performance, and it creates more self doubt, which again increases stress levels. So you get sucked into the vortex of stress and anxiety. An anxious person spoils his performance even if he is well prepared. He is full of negative self talk – 'I am no good', 'I cannot perform', etc.

- If he is a tennis player, the bite is missing from his swing;

- If he is leading a team, he is not able to provide leadership to his team members.

- If he is a performer, the inspiration is lacking.

...And so on and so forth. You may remember so many examples of negative self talk from your own experiences. This becomes a snowball effect, and performance nosedives from then on.If negative self talk is so powerful, is not true for the positive self talk? Of course, it is. Only, here you have to make some effort to break the spiral of negative thinking and make use of the power of positive affirmations.

With sufficient practice, it will become a habit. If you are suffering from pessimistic self talk, think carefully, and try to remember the time when you first fell prey to the negative self talk. This need not continue. This is self destructive, and addictive.

Break this habit today with the power of positive affirmations. You can take the help of The Self Suggestion Kit, which people have found to be very practical and effective.

When you keep on repeating positive affirmations, ultimately your mind gets convinced, and starts believing in them, and also starts behaving like a winner. Words do have power. Propagandists understand it very well; marketers and advertisers make a living out of it!

Make a vow to yourself that you will only convey positive messages to your mind from now on and observe its power in making you more affective, and making your life less stressful and more relaxed.

Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. ~ Vince Lombardi

But, for feeling the power of positive affirmations, you have to follow a method in forming affirmations and a method in employing them for their increased effectiveness, which you should follow for your own advantage.
